Quick and simple. Old post is lost and burried. New to me 1995 Johnson 48hp SPL. Purchased a tachometer from the shop when I bought the motor. Dial on the back was set to 5 when I picked it up, but it was an after hours accessory install done in a hurry. I dont seem to crest ~4700 RPM @ WOT. Unsure if my pole/rev selector is in the correct spot for this engine. Has options 2 thru 6.

Thank you

I did a search, plus more. One chart said motors of that year/H.P. have six poles. I just know I idle above 700 and don't come near 4k when set at 5 pole. Just wanted to clarify.

Thank you for the reply

Do whatever you want, I don't care. Put it on 6 and see what happens. I predict it will give a lower reading.
