Need help wiring my tach. I have a 1971 Chrysler 55 HP outboard. This is how everthing looks now. The white wire coming from the tach was connected to the white wire from the harness with all the wires that come from the engine. But the black wire was not. MY ignition switch does have 2 m terminals on it. The tach looks like it originally came with boat. mount on dash. It sticks out about 2 inches from dash as does the speedometer. My engine is battery, points, coil. I am telling you all this hoping you have a better understanding of my situation. The wires in the harness are Yellow-start, purple-gen, White-tach, Green-choke, orange-heat, red-battery, blue-igniton, and black-gound. Should I hook the white wire from tach to white in harness that says tach, should I hook black from tach to black ground wire from harness. This may sound like a dump question, but I want to be sure. Also how about the speedometer? Can you give me help on this also? I noticed a cable coming from there going into the back of boat in water. With some white plastic type of cone or angle piece on end. Is that for the speedometer?
