Hello , i Changed out my 75hp to a 1978 140 hp with the old style switch box that has the tach plug on the front, since I don't have the actual plug for tach I just used push on connectors and went brown to signal, white to power and black to gnd on the tach.
NOT WORKING. I changed the poles around and still nothing.
Boat is a 1997 Bayliner bow rider.
Am I missing something?
Thanks

Re: Tach trouble

No, that is the way to wire it. Check under the cowl to make sure the brown tach signal wire is connected to one of the yellow stator wires at the rectifier. If it is, maybe the quick connect plug is bad or the wiring is bad...

Re: Tach trouble

Very weird
I never looked yet to see the brown connected to yellow, but i do have power from the brown at the tach, lites up my test light as well as i have power at the white one.
Bad ground or tach maybe??
