Hello everyone,
I?m trying to hook up a tach to my Merc 4.3 engine. The wires on the tach I want to install are white, yellow and orange. Those are not the colrs I?m use to seeing on a tach.

This is how I think the wires should be hooked up:
White= 12volt source
Yellow= Ground
Orange= Coils negative terminal

Can someone help me confirm this?

Re: Tach Wires

I also want to add that the tach does not have a backlight, so I dont think the white wire is used for lighting.

Re: Tach Wires

White is rarely used as a power feed and is more typically a ground connection. Check the tach manufacturers web site or simply Google or Yahoo search on the name and model of the tach.
