tach wiring for 1992 250 V-8

To start, I searched old topics to find my answer but couldnt so here goes. I have my purple, black and gray wires for the tach. I understand the gray is pulse, purple is power and black is ground. What terminals on the tach do each connect to? I found through a search that the pulse setting shoule be at 6? The tach is an older OMC tach but dont know exact year. Are there any potential problems to be aware of?

Gray to "S" terminal
Purple to "I" terminal
Black to "G" Terminal

There should be another terminal on the tach for a backlight. You would just jump from another gauges light terminal to get power for that....Pulse setting is "6"...
