That's right, not a typo.....my tach has stopped responding.

Bad connection? Try connecting a battery charger to the leads. If it works directly at the tach, and not at the coil, you have a wiring problem. If it doesn't work at the tach, that tach itself is bad...

That's a good place to start...

You can also test accuracy of a tach with this method. When the charger is connected, you should get the following reading.

* 1800 rpm for an 8 cylinder,
* 2400 for a 6 cylinder
* 3600 for a 4 cylinder

I had the same problem. found out on the back of my tach there was a screw that would come loose and cause the tack to stop working. I found this buy running the boat in the slip and touching the screw. I think it was the adjustment on the back of the tach. so I used a screwdriver and tighted it up.
so far no more problems.
