Can any type Tach be used on this type charging system? Like if I wanted to use a automotive tach?

You'll want to locate a marine tach. Test tachs have a switch on the back which will let you adapt to any type marine ignition system, outboard, stern drive, etc.

You will need a universal marine tachometer. The signal wire will be connected to the terminal block where one of the yellow wires from the rectifier is connected.

There should be a grey wire near the key switch. That is the tach signal wire.
No, a car tach won't work. You need one that gets its signal from the alternator (nearly all modern outboards)

I found the grey wire it is not attached to anything. Where is the best place to buy a universal tach
