tachometer for merc 500

i have a 1964 merc 500 LS and im wondering if you can buy after market tachs for it and if so what would be the best one. thanks

You can buy after market tachs for it and as for what would be the best one well in my opinion that would be one that works and suites your needs.
Everyone will tell you something different.

I just added a new Quicksilver one to mine to replace an old style one. It's all preference really. You may even be able to find a digital one, not sure if they work with classic motors.

After talking with the staff at Mercury I found out the Tach I have is for a Lightning ignition, not the Thunderbolt ignition. Watch which one you pick up.

If traditional tach's do not seem to be what you are looking for, google "tiny tach". They are made near Chicago. They may/ may not be what you want for your rig.

It says to only use a Quicksilver tach on the casing of my merc 650 thunderbolt...can i use a different brand?...or should i use something specific
