I would like to hook up the old tach. or hook up a new tach. Where is the best place to get a good RPM reading from. I have a merc 150 1984, 1985 serial number A114343. Engine is new to this boat. Thanks Diverman

Look for a socket on the front of the remote. You can buy a harness that plugs into that and hook your tach to it.

Diver, The parts list says that motor has a rectifier. The tach signal is either of the yellow stator wires that connect to the rectifier. You should see a grey wire conecting to one of the yellow stator wires. On a lot of mercs, this grey wire is run to a three prong connector in front of the merControl, and Bill cited.

Thanks for the information. I had read about the tach signal coming from the rectifier. Just wanted more information for my engine. Thanks Mariner
