Tachometer Not Working

I have a 1998 Larson Hampton, 5.7 Merc.

I put the boat away last year and the tachometer worked...

This year I just replace the fishfinder and the GPS to a Hummingbird Combo.

Seemed pretty simple...

However the tachometer is not working at all, it stays at 0 whether the boat is running or not.... I checked for loose or correded wires under the dash and there does not seem to be an issue.

Any suggestions on where to start my trouble shooting?

Re: Tachometer Not Working

Anytime something works, I work on the boat even if unrelated and then what did work doesn't, its something I've done 99% of the time.

Most likely if you had your hands behind the dash is you bumped the selector switch on the tach that tells it how many cyl.s the engine has.

Bumping the calibration selector would likely make the tach read incorrectly but not zero. I suspect in the process of wiring you loosened a wire (even though you thnk you didn't).
