tachometer question

where on a 1987, 70 hp johnson do I connect the grey wire from my Tachometer. power, ground, and light wires are connected...

don't know your specific motor, but is there a grey wire inside your controller that doesn't go anywhere?? there was in my johnson, and it was the tacho wire.<br /><br />regards<br /><br />Frank

Just did this a few weeks ago. Look at your control box....see the big plug sticking out below the key? Well there it is. I had two plastic pins in there and one wire coming out. I replaced the plastic pins with metal stud ends (local radio shack) and now have 3 wires there. The grey wire in in there anlong with a positive and negative. It took a little twisting and serious facial expressions to seat the pins but it was easy. Sealed the connection and the tack works great.<br /><br />Bob
