Tachometer question

Please excuse a dumb question, but will just any tach work on a Johnson V4 115 engine? Are tachs designed for particular engines, or will one for a 4 cyl car or a Suzuki outboard work the same as one specifically for my engine? Thank you in advance for your help.

there is a Tach that is universal called "Tiny<br />Tach". attatches to one plug wire and ground.<br />also keeps engine hours automatically.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
