I have a console coming for my 16ft Bass Tracker and I'm going to either run a 25hp 1985 Evinrude electric start or a 50hp 1972 Evinrude on it. Need to see how well the 25hp pushes it. One of the reasons I bought this (used) console is because it had speedo, tach, volt, tilt/trim gauges with it and for $69.00 it was a much better deal than having to add them to one without them. The speedo and voltage hookups shouldn't be any problem but I'm concerned about the tach. Number one is it compatible? And number two will I fry any electronics if I hook it up wrong. Some tachs are protected against incorrect hookup but that doesn't guarantee that what it's hooked up TO won't do a meltdown on me. Here's the info from the seller:
0-7 RPM systems check tachometer for use on 5-6 pul/rev alternator equipped outboards

Any advice or warnings guys?
Thanks,
slabomatic

75% of the earth's surface is covered in water.
