tachometer recomendation

I need to see if my 91' 40 hp johnson ( 2 stroke) is proped correctly, and obviously need a tach. Without spending an arm and a leg what recomendations do you more experienced people have? It is something you use only ocassionally to check performance, what works and is cost effective....thanks in advance

There really are no cheap alternatives for a good marine tachometer, but Faria and Teleflex make good aftermarket products.

You need a Tachometer that has a 6P setting on a rotary dial on the back of the gauge.
