Anyone have any luck fixing tachometers. Would like to fix this so it matches. Don't want to have to replace all my gauges.

Have you verified that it is actually bad? If it is, the manufacturer can do the repair.

Yeah, I have an old square one hooked up now for temporary use. I saw that they do repair, but they want $125+$19 shipping plus what ever it costs me to ship it to them. So for $150+ I think I would be just looking to purchase all new gauges.

Something to try and it may fix the tach. The pole/pulse setting switch can get gunky and if you rotate the switch to through all the positions a few times and back to the original setting, can sometimes clean the switch contacts. If that works, it's a free fix. Good luck.

Yeah, I did try that a little bit, the tach went from not working at all to getting some slight (very very slight) movement. it reads maybe 300 rpm at idle and with rev to about 800 at most.

Sounds like dirty contacts inside. I have never tried to open one up, but if you could (I mean it isn't working now what's to lose) and see if you can burnish/clean the contacts, you could make it work like new again. Knowing me, that is what I would try. JMHO

Agree with gm, pop it open and lets have a look see eh?.........Collectively, we have managed to fix a few thing around here, even remotely if you're game ;)

Could spray a wee bit of electrical contact clean from the outside down in the sector switch and index the selector switch it back and forth through its setting ranges first, see what that does.

If no luck, looks like the front bezel ring is machine pressed around the back body cup........How are your dremel skills? Get a cutting wheel and carefully go around the metal face ring cutting the ring in half so it splits in two and the face pops off. Guts (meter movement/PCB) will most likely stay attached to the face piece as the works slide out of the body cup.......Spin the terminal post nuts off first though.

Once fixed, tack the front ring back on such that its hard to tell it was opened........Super glue or such. I use Tak Pak, good stuff!!

Well, I figure I'd fill you all in. I fixed the tach by loosening the bolts on the back, blowing some air in there and a little shaky shaky. Works great now. Thanks to all whom responded.

Hey all, I finally found a matching replacement trim gauge for my 2001 Maxum Marine 2100SR. Previous owner had put an unmatching white gauge in. So the only issue is that I cannot find the stainless steel trim that goes around it. I will attach pictures. If anyone has one or knows where I can purchase one please let me know. It is approx 2". I am also looking for the back plastic piece that attaches the gauge to the mounting bolts.

This not a buy/sell/swap site. Check here - http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Acc...%20gauge&s=sol

The trim ring is part of the gauge and not a separate piece. Didn't the new gauge come with the clamp?

Also - Please don't open multiple threads. Changed the thread title adding the trim gauge.
