First, let me say thanks to the folks who helped me recently with my magneto issue. Very much appreciated. Now, on to new issue. Same 1963 Merc 650 (Serial 1621723) on a boat I saved from a backyard of a friends house. It was in pretty poor shape initially. Have the outboard running wonderfully thanks to you folks who helped. The question is though, how do I hook up the Tachometer that is in the dash? Some idiot had cut the wires at some point in the boats history(there are 3) from the Tachometer. I do not know where they go. Based upon my electronics background, I would guess that one is a power lead, one is a ground lead, but what about the third? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this? What color wires to where? I am guessing that one wire goes to the rectifier but which one? I recenlty purchased an old Kiekhaefer control box to try to bring the controls/motor back to original but there is no Tach connector on this model control box. Any help is greatly appreciated.
