1988 bayliner my tach don't seem to be consistant.it fluctuates. is there an adjustment on the tach itself or could it be wiring or something like that. force 125hp.

Could be Any of the above......<br />I'd Start with the Shake, Wiggle,+ Pull Test....

Because the motor is a Force motor here is your problem... The tachometer wire is actually cross circuited with the electric trim function. The electric trim function has an air flow sensor hooked to it and in conjunction the coil and number 2 spark plug wire are routed to the speedometer. So your problem actually lies in the number 2 spark plug, my advice is you should replace the number 2 plug with a glow plug from a Mercedes diesel, hot wire that plug wire directly into your battery and connect it to your bilge pump. That oughtta do it. Good luck. Just kidding
