Had several people who wanted to see the smarttab install on my 195 i/o. It actually went very easily. I was concerned about placement and the location of the tiedown straps. I couldn't go 3-5" from the outside edge due to the bubbles on the transom, so i called nauticus and they told me to move them inward as far as necessary, and only to be sure the mounting bracket was at least 10 inches from the centerline of the boat (this wasn't a problem). I dry fit them to find a spot that met nauticus' criteria and didn't require me to move anything including the tied downs. The tiedowns do touch the upper part of the actuators but very little pressure is applied to them. The white stuff on the tabs is just dust from drilling the holes.

The nylon bolts that attach the tab to the bottom of the actuator was missing from package, so i replaced them with some 1/4" pins from the hardware store. I'd seen this done by others for easy adjustment anyway.

The first pic also has my new 4 blade solas amita 19P prop. Both the prop and the tabs will get their maiden voyage this weekend.

i had a friend that is a welder put some new mounts for the tiedowns on my trailer. now the straps run straight down and don't touch the tabs.

Re: tahoe 195 i/o Smartabs install

i got to try out the new 60# smarttabs this weekend, and it was a little difficult to make an apples to apples comparison since i had a much heavier load than usual and a new 19P 4 blade solas amita prop in the mix....

BUT i will say this, the low speed wander is now almost non-existent which is worth the install alone and this is after driving through some long no-wake zones. The boat had no problems planing out with 6 large adults on board (1200+ pounds of people) plus gear/coolers, bow rise and minimum on-plane speed was reduced as well.

I didn't run WOT because my sisters back was bothering her, so can't comment on top speed yet. I did notice the wake seemed more turbulent behind the boat. I left the tabs in the 3rd hole, and didn't have a chance to experiment with other settings yet.

Overall, really pleased with them.

I also thought of installing ST on my 195/IO. It would be great to get more of your impressions.
BTW, the wake turbulence could be caused by bigger load. Interesting how fuel consumption changed.

I just spent 4 days on the water, and my impression is if you don't put tabs on your nutz. Haven't calculated the fuel economy change but it seems like I'm filling up less often. I'm certain I'm getting on plane and planing at a much lower speed which i believe is helping economy. Just getting rid of wander is heavenly. I was kneeboarding behind the boat and didn't notice the turbulence I mentioned.
