Re: Tahoe Boat Section??
For both of you guys (Prince and dmoss), yes...things on here are slow. I usually check this site about once every 2-3 days during the off-season, then daily during the regular season.
If you are scared to drill the holes, take them to your local marine dealer and have the service department do them. It'll set you back about about 1-2 hours of labor costs, but, if they mess up, you aren't responsible - $100 for peace of mind is a good thing. There are two local marine shops here - one will do it, the other won't - so check around.
I actually had the same apprehensions about drilling, then one day just decided to knock it out. my problem had to deal with bending the bracket (there is a thread about it), but in the long run, took me about one hour....no issues what so ever and they work as advertised.
dmoss, you will want to use the 60 lb actuators. It's based on the length of the boat as well. Check the chart on the Smart Tabs website.
I wakeboard quite a bit on another boat (Malibu), and purchased ballast bags for my Tahoe Q5i...put them in the engine compartment, and off we go. There is a HUGE difference in wake made...if you have some heavier folks, you can adjust ballast that way as well. The only problems with the ballast bags is the waiting for the bags to fill/un-fill....about 10-12 minutes per bag. I typically fill them while we're swimming, etc. i use this without moving the tabs...I'm scared that I'll lose one of the bolts while adjusting.
