TAHOE Gel coat color

I have a new to me 2006 tahoe Q4 with the 4.3l that i got last summer. The marina i bought the boat from did some gel coat repair... Yeah color matching is not their strong point, has anyboby repaired the white and what is the color ratio they used.
Thans for any input on this.

hi.....welcome to iboats !

color matching is a real dark art.

the mix ratios are one of the best kept secrets of the manufacturers. and the chances of a home builder hitting it with materials they have or the kits they buy are not good. we can get very close. but rarely nail it.

white, off white, and tans are the easiest to match, but even then, it can take 75 matches to get close enough to call it good.

if you want bang on......the best is to call the nfgr and buy the gell from them or a tinting company.

Thank you ooops for the info. Yeah it's not easy to match but after posting my question, i found on iboats they have color match spectrum gel coat paste repair i think i will try that. should be really close. Man do i whish i was back in BC and not in cold country.

Good morning Mike and welcome to Iboats

If I could make a suggestion here.. Call up the manufacture and have them look up what 'color' your white is from your Hull ID #.

Being a 2006 I am coming up with 4 possible colors.

1. 2000-2006 Off White Primer gel. Spectrum # 23010
2. 2003-2006 Off White gel. Spectrum # 23022 ( probably the one you need ).
3. 2007-2010 Ice White Ash LVOC Spectrum # 23045 ( probably a deck or console color ).
4. 2007-2010 White HK LVOC Spectrum # 23033

I know you have a 2006 .. but depending on when in 2006 it was built, you may have the 'change over' 2007 color.
