Take the rebuild plunge I guess

I guess I'm going to have to tear into to my 1988 115 horse inline six. Came with boat I bought. Could'nt get much "play" when I wrenched on the flywheel nut. I ordered my manual on-line today. I've rebuilt three auto engines before, been some years though. I have a a nice tool box. As a rule does one have to have experienced help to remove and open the powerhead and see why the motor frooze. Sure seems to be a lot of wires everywhere "scary". Is there anything else I shoud do or check to make sure that it is the top of the engine and not the lower unit befoe I undertake this task. And what is the average price to have a pro rebuild it for me. I have seven children and a love of fishing, I can't afford much for myself. Please help. Floaty

drop the lower unit, then try the power head, that is the only way to be sure.
