I took my 19' bayliner off its trailer. Before doing this i searched the forums. i found alot of info and sugestions, however i still felt uncertain about any one method. In the end I built a cradle, took a deep breath, and pulled the trailer. This is just some pics and my methods to help anyone in the future who decides to do it this way.boattrailer.jpgboattrailer2.jpgboattrailer3.jpg

Cradle cost 15 bucks
atv jack that i already owned

I am going to patch some chips and gouges on the hull and do some repairs and maintenance to the trailer. I will not be getting in th boat while it is on the cradle.

With the trailer tongue lowered the cradle is snug underneath. Then I raised the tongue and placed the atv lift under the bow. Then moved trailer forward until hitting crossmember. just lower atv lift, reposition and repeat. FWIW

Sorry, I couldn't get much detail from those photos. Too small, even when I clicked on the thumbnail.

Good job! You can do anything once you cover all the bases. Your cradle appears similar to one I built when removing my trailer. I had an overhead beam with a 2" ratchet strap and also used a engine hoist and jack stands. The first time pulling the trailer does cause some butterflies.....lol. Most definitely the easiest way to rebuild your boat trailer.

Thanks for pointing out the pic size jay. I will work on my resizing skills.
Yes evin, needing to do stuff to the hull and the trailer it just seems to make sense to pull it. I guess unless you have a boat that is much larger than this.

Re: Taking a Boat off its trailer.

Alright getting pics from my phone to iboats is not so easy for me. However, if you have taken a boat off of a trailer and you have pics to go with your methods I would encourage you to post on this thread. It would have been nice to search and find a thread like this when I was preparing to do it. I did find some info, but it was strung out over several threads. Also not many pics of the removal just here it is off the trailer, kinda like mine. In the meantime I will work on getting my pics to a usable size. Thanks

Here's an option for you: email the original jpg files to me (jayhanig at charter.net) and I'll resize them and repost for you. Sound like a deal?
