Tanaka 5hp engine help

So I have a Tanaka 5hp that starts up easily everytime. The problem it that if you go a little past an idle the engine will rev all the sudden. Its almost like it will kick out of gear. I get around mostly at an idle or just off idle. I would really like to figure this problem out so I can get across a lake in a reasonable amount of time.

Could be the prop hub.Some have a pressed in hub with arubber bushing These some times fail.Called a spun hub.Pull the prop and put an indelable
mark across the hub run the motor and check the mark.
the motor also has a centrifigal clutch that may have failed.
