Do you guys think some cleat stock epoxied to the deck is enough to support the fuel tank (12 gallon) and the batteries? I was thinking of enclosing the battery compartment so I have a place to mount my batt switch and the main breaker. The tank will be exposed but I still need something to screw to. I dont want to go in to the deck. I was thinking some rounded over 2x2 hardwood glassed down would be enough. Thoughts? (dont worry I will allow some limber drainage)

Re: Tank and battery mountings

Are we talking Metal or Plastic Tank? I guess either way really doesn't matter for my way to work. I did this in my truck for my tool box and it works great. I gorilla glued two 1" rare earth magnets to the floor of my truck and then to the base of my tool box.

When I put it in the back of the truck it goes NOWHERE. Hard BRAKES, Fast take offs, or Hard Corners, it stays put. Magnets are 3/8" thick You could counter sink in the deck and even glass over em. They are so powerfull they will PULL to each other from almost a full inch away. I am going to try it on my two metal tanks on my restore this fall. I KNOW it will work. Or you could use Velcro as another alternative.

I think your idea is fine as well, just thought I would throw in my Off Base Ideas!!!

I'm just sayin...:D
