A buddy had 5 quarts of 2-cycle oil sitting in his garage for - Well who knows how long. When he heard that I had my new toy he came by and dropped it off for me. It is labeled as TCW - II. My question is, is the stuff safe to use in my old motor? I'd think so, since it is certainly newer than the motor, but I'd be interested in what y'all have to say about it.

Thanks!

Sure, it's OK.
From the Evinrude.com site:
Q - I have some oil that has been sitting on the shelf for a few years. Is it any good? Can I still use it?

A - Yes, just shake it up and it will be fine (it may need to be room temperature).

Q - I have a lot of TCW-2 oil. Can I still use it in my motor?

A - Yes, as long as it's a 1992 or older motor. You may want to use Carbon Guard to minimize the formation of carbon deposits in the engine.

That '62 Rude can use any 2 cycle oil. Be sure to run a 24::1 gas oil mix.
Heck, that motor was designed to run on non-detergent SAE-30 automotive motor oil. You could still run that ND SAE-30 stuff, however, the 2 cycle oil's run much cleaner.
