Two questions:

1) Where can I get some quality solid teak boards for my bow, preferably in Canada?

2) I would like to change colours on by boat's gelcoat. It is about a 2 ft stripe on the side of the boat. I would like to change the colour to red. Any suggestions on how, what kind of paint, good brand, protection, is it wise?

Teak boards? Probably ebay but they will dent your wallet!!

Depends on what your budget is for the stripe. Interlux makes great paint but is a WIDE selection of prices and the old saying....... you get what you pay for. Cheaper paint will not look as good or last as long.......

Re: Teak and paint

Ipe wood is a good alternative to teak, and not as expensive. I just got done painting a red stripe over the original brown on my boat. I used an automotive paint called Nason Ful-cryl, I think it's made by DuPont. I sprayed mine and it came out beautifully, and it was my first time ever to spray. It's not exactly cheap, but way better quality than any of the one part paints. Personally, I think spraying is just as easy if not easier than roll and tip. The only drawback is having to cover everything with drop cloths or plastic that you don't want to get overspray on.

Re: Teak and paint

Windsor plywood has all kinds of exotic woods. Everything from ebony to zebra wood in different dimensions as well. I was looking at trimming it out in oak if I can't find the teak but haven't looked all that hard as of yet.

I need to do the same for a bunch of thin strips on top of the closed bow area.
