My teak swim platform needs to be cleaned and oiled along with other various trim. I have a couple bottles of teak oil. I need to clean/brighten it before putting oil on it. Anyone know of a DIY teak brightener/cleaner?

Check out some of the Star-Brite products. That is what we used when we had teak. It was like night and day once we were done.

In the old days we used comet cleanser and a brush, scrubbed it good, rinsed it good, let it dry and coated with teak oil. Once cleaned and coated, additional coats of oil before it discolors again will help it to look better longer.

You could go to a local teak furniture store, they have different products and procedures based on what result you want. First step is to deep clean with a stiff brush. Next steps depend on what finish appearance you want and for how long until next maintenance. Teak is weird, it loves water and actually grows even after the tree it came from is long gone. There are sealer products that account for this,
