Techumseh 3.0 prop spins but i can't get any thrust

HEllo. I bought an outboard off Craig's list and I can't find any information about it online. the guy said it is a Techumseh 3hp. I've taken it out a bunch of times and she was running great on the side of my canoe, but today I suddenly lost all thrust. the propellor still spins when the motor is running, but in the water she doesn't have any push. I have a feeling it's the shear pin, but it was getting dark so i didn't have time to open her up all the way. If anyone has any info on Tecumseh outboards or any insight to the proppelor problem I would greatly appreciate your help. THanks.

You're probably right. It's probably the shear pin. I had the same thing on a Tec 3hp. Pull the prop and check. I'll bet that's it.

Thank you Commander. It was the shear pin. I replaced the part and she's running beautifully. Now all we need is some warm weather!

Good deal! Now, always have a spare with you when you take your boat out, along with any tools you might need to get the prop off and replace it. I keep spare shear pins in my tacklebox, in a little plastic box. They've saved the day a few times.
