I believe the newer model Tecumseh carbs no longer have mixture adjustments. As long as you can hook the governor back up chances are it will work. You can post your question here and someone will help you out

small engine repair

Tecumseh Sno King, carb questions

I'm getting ready to install a new carb on an old Tecumseh Sno King motor, Mod# HS506711830 Ser# 9257B.

The carb I got, part # 640084B is slightly different, I believe it will mount up perfectly but the is no mixture adjustment screw now and the device on the bottom of the fuel bowl looks like some sort of drain or relief.... push button of some sort? (When I say there is no mixture screw, I should note that in the general area of where the mix screw should be, there is a plastic cap.
The old carb had a mixture screw on the side and an adjustment of some sort on the bottom of the fuel bowl.

Question/s are:
1) can someone tell me if this is the correct carb? Maybe just a current version? (The snow blower this motor is on is about 30 years old).
2) is there a mix screw under the plastic cap? It is recessed, and would be difficult to try to grasp it.

Thanks in advance-

Yep, eurolava is right. The new replacements have no adjustment. They have fixed jets. You can still buy the old style carbs off the internet. Or you can re-build the old one for less than $10. Depending on model, the fast idle screw on the side will have a cap on it. Don't bother to break if off to adjust the idle because the needle is not a needle valve at all, but rather a fixed aperature jet that must be screwed in fully to work.

The little button off center on the bowl is probably a gas drain. (thought they eliminated those for pollution reasons)

Bottom line is no, that is not the correct carb for that motor. But it probably will work. I would return it if it's not been installed yet and get a rebuild kit for the old carb. It is rather easy to rebuild and only a few pieces involved. The hardest part is digging out the old aluminum plugs (2 are included in the rebuild kit) and driving in the new ones. You need an awl to remove and a wood dowel to drive back in.

If you have the skill to remove the old carb, you have the skill to re-build it.

Mark.

Thanks for the info guys. As far as rebuilding, the thing has been rebuilt 3 or 4 times in 30 years. I figured I could spend 60 bucks on a new carb.
I guess we'll se what happens.
Thanks again!!!
