I have, id guess a 1972 ted williams 7hp motor. Has a Techumseh engine. I also have an older 7hp, same motor just few differences like no twist throttle. Anyway i started working on the ted williams, spark seemed strong, carb looked good so i put the fuel to it and cranked on it. Started fine, pushed the choke back in gave it a little gas and it revs up real high and dies. Ok i figured something with the carb so i take the one from the older motor, same carb(which worked fine in the other motor), and put it in. Same thing. then i traded the reed valves out still same problem. Anyone have any clue what could be causeing it to do what its doing?

Thanks for any help you can give me,
