Ted Williams 5.5hp need year

I just picked up a Ted Williams 5.5hp model 217-5943-2 does anyone know what year this is?<br /><br />Also this motor ran for about 50 yards the other day then started making a loud clicking sound, and then died. I still wants to start but it still makes the sound when you pull it. Any ideas what can be making it do this.

Difficult to tell from the discription but:: Sounds like a rod knock.Did you mix oil in the gas?<br /> Does it knock if you rock the flywheel back and forth.<br /> It is built by Eska For Sears circa 71-72 uses an<br /> air cooled Tecumseh powerhead with a water cooled exhaust leg.Probably not worth paying someone to fix it.

I was thinking that may be the problem. Yeah I had oil in the gas mixed at 24:1. Can I replace the rod mechanism or is that something a mechanic would have to do? I don't think anyone will work on it anyway.
