Ted Williams 7.5hp Water pump issues? no water coming out

Hi guys,

I joined this forum, because I recently purchase a jon boat with a ted williams 7.5hp motor (217-5888-2). This forum has alot of information, and I am hoping you guys can answer some of my questions when it comes to this motor.

I found out that this motor is a 1974 eska motor. This motor has been sitting for a while, so I put a new plug in and a new chrysler style fuel connector, and after messing with it a bit, it started up. It doesn't idle, but i did get it to start up and rev. I placed the motor in a bucket of water and nothing comes out of the two exhuast holes. I made sure the exhuast holes were clear and not clogged up, but still nothing comes out (only exhuast fumes).

I may have to replace my water pump. Where can I get a water pump for this type of motor?

View attachment 151398 any merc dealer should have it...be sure to flush out the old bits of impeller, there usally clogging up right under the water pump.
Also be thinking carb kit www.certifiedpartscorp.com you can get the impeller there also
