I am new to this. I have a sears ted williams 7 h.p. wich I am told is an eska chasis #217-58532 serial #151266. I am trying to change the gear oil. In the service manual it says to fill in lower fill hole with top vent hole open. Well on mine the fill hole is above the vent hole. What is procedure for filling with oil?

The lower hole is the fill hole. If you buy your outboard lower unit oil in a tube, that tube will screw right in the lower hole. With the outboard upright, squeeze in the lube until it begins to come out of the upper hole. Then screw the upper plug in without removing the tube and tighten it. Then, unscrew the tube from the lower hole and insert the lower plug. Very little oil will escape.

Drain it laying it on its side, fill from the hole that says fill, top it off at the vent plug so you get it full or else you risk only partially filling the gear case.

The lower hole is not the fill hole. It is so small you can't screw anything in it. Filling it took forever.

the large screw on the right side looking from the front of the outboard is the fill hole...just believe, the cheap little pumps work great, they screw right in...I think the tubes will screw in as well, then top it off through the vent using a small oil can or what ever you can come up with.
