Teleflex kit, which one?

So I've decided it's time to scrap the cable and pulley steering on my 1966 Duo and install a Teleflex no feedback system but I can't figure out which one is appropriate for me. the boat's a 16' aluminum closed bow runabout style with a 50hp Johnson OB. I see Teleflex has the NFB Saf-T II and the NFB 4.2.

The question is, which one is right for me? The info available on their site is pretty sparse and I can't decide.

Thanks,
mick

Have a look at Teleflex BayStar. Easy to rig, nice feel.

I looked up the BayStar, 5 to 7 hundred is a little rich for my blood. That's almost as much as the boat cost me. Think I'll stick with a mechanical system... Thanks for the suggestion though.

From what I can find on Iboats, both systems are rotary. So far the only difference I see is that the NFB Saf-T II is 3 turns lock to lock and the NFB 4.2 is 4.2 turns lock to lock.

Seems like the Saf-T II might be the better way to go. Agree, disagree??

Since you have a smaller boat and less than 100 horse power the Saf-T II would be my choice. As power goes up more leverage is needed to over come prop torque.

I agree. With only 50hp you are wasting money on a NFB system. I have the Saf-T II on my 14' 40hp MFG Niagara and it feels like power steering with a little 12" steering wheel. You should be able to find that Teleflex system, helm and cable for about $140 if you shop around. Get the part number and do a search on yahoo and google for "teleflex " and the part number.
