Teleflex Rack and Pinion

My father and I are changing the steering cable on a 19 foot bay boat. He thinks we should try to take the old cable out of the housing and try to clean it up and re-use it, while I think for about $100 we should replace it.

Anybody got any experience in this they would like to share?

Order a new cable while he is attempting that project. Father doesn't always know best.
