Hi all, can you tell me what type of Teleflex steering cable this is? Old style (threaded) Safe-T®, Big-T®, or Safe-T Quick Connect? I know it is threaded, so obviously its the first one right?

Also, what should I look for now that I have it off in regards to whether I need to replace it or not.

Re: Teleflex Steering Cable

Scuda, That cable appears to have only one end. The steering head end appears to be broken off, althought is is not easy to see in the picture.

Since the cable is 95% of the cost of the steering systems, you may as well replace the entire system. Also, I do not think you can buy replacement cables for low-cost Teleflex rack and pinyon systems.

Re: Teleflex Steering Cable

Looks like its all there to me as it looks just like the one I removed from my boat as part of my rebuild project. Mine was working very smoothly and easily when removed and I plan on reinstalling it. If yours was working, why replace it? Of course since you have it out you might want to clean and re-lube it before reinstalling. Sorry, I don't know which Teleflex system it is though.
