Greetings board members,
I'm in the process of recarpeting my '97 Tracker Pro Deep V-17 and need to remove the steering mechanism so I can recarpet the starboard side of my boat. The cable passes through the side panel, so I cannot remove it to recarpet without disconnecting the steering cable from the helm. I went to the teleflex website and found information on installation, but, none on removal. I would prefer not to remove the ram unit from the outboard and run it all the way up and through the side panel and console. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for disconnecting the cable from the helm, assuming it's possible. Thanks for any help!
