Just curious what the point of having a sliding shaft on the throttle/shift cables is. I just finished rebuilding my carbs and was going through the link/sync and couldn't figure out if i needed to pull the shaft all the way out of the tube or push it back in or just leave it alone before making attachments to the engine.

Does it matter?

Re: Teleflex throttle/shift cables

you set the motor in neutral, throttle at lowest setting, set your controller the same way, there is a trunion nut on the cable at the motor, you adjust this nut till the coupler lines up with the motor, with out moving any thing on the motor, cable has to match motor.

I've seen that on other posts, but with the trunnion in the pocket and the cable not attached I can physically push/pull the end of the cable so that it moves like a shock absorber.....how is the slider supposed to be for connection, all in, all out, in the middle?

88 Evinrude, 150 hp with what appears to be original control box and cables.

you may have a bad set of cables. they do wear out.
