I can't find it.

I bought my flat boat with a blown evinrude 70, and it had a tell-tail at the back port side of the motor. You can clearly see it. I don't know what year that motor was (197?) and my "new" motor is a 1975 70 that is in great shape, I got it off Ebay and it is clean and fired up as soon as it was installed. What gets me is I see no tell-tail on the back of the motor. I see water coming out in other places and it is coming out warm, but I don't see anywhere were I can check and see that my coolant system is working while in the boat.

The other motor (which I think is newer than the 75, but not much) has the tell-tail right there plain as day.

Does the 75, not have a tell-tail? It seemed like the engine was cooling, but until I know for sure, I don't want to run it more than a minute at a time.

If anyone can enlighten me on the tell-tail or tell me what they know, It would help. Thanks.

I dont believe that model came with a factory tell tale, unless it was retrofitted. Easily done if you like, check out the FAQ for a thread by IWombat that covers this. Most of your spent cooling water will exit via the exhaust relief holes and at the prop. If the motor is new to you, I would go ahead and change the water pump/impeller for the peace of mind as it is a critical component of the cooling system.

Good luck.

Yeah, I can't take it out in the water until my registration comes in, and I am definetly going to change the impeller.

I have a lot of other stuff to do, but I feel better knowing that there is no tell-tail. I will check that thread. Maybe I can take the factory one off the other 70.
