Tell tale for 1973 Johnson 65hp

Just for clarification: Looking at the pic I got off another post which shows the side view prior to installation.

If I drill in the low point where the circle is well in front of the eye and really just behind the head. Right in the center from side to side, I should be good to go. If I understand correctly, everything directly underneath is all water jacket until you get to the piston bore which should be more than 1/2" down.

If anyone has any additional details or a better side/top pic with one installed, that would be great.

As mentioned recently, and something I didn't even THINK about. (And should know better). Use the OEM plastic fitting to avoid galvanic corrosion.

how do i get the oem part number, any ideas?
