hello all

im very new to this site so bear with me .
the outboard is a 1985 evinrude 50hp 2 stroke. the motor has been sitting a year or 2. Last year i replaced the impellor assy as directed. started the motor and the water was coming out of pee hole just fine. this year i set up the muffs again just to test before hitting the waters, the water stream was the same except as i increased idle to approx 3000 the water stream stopped
i waited approx 2 minutes then it started again. however after fooling with it i should turning engine off starting engine again a few times th e water was takeing longer and longer to start which made me nervous because it was taking waaay to long to come out.another thing i noticed is that at the lower part rear of the engine case or top of the lower unit there is alot of water coming out, its probably normal but i thought id mention it. thx in advence for your help:D

Re: tell tale problems

You cannot rely on muffs to test your water system. You are running on spigot pressure. Put the motor in a tub so that the water level is above the level of the water pump. Make sure that the tell tale is clear. A plastic tube from an aerosol spray will do this.
Fire up the motor and see what you get.
