Tell Tale Question

So after making a gas line repair to my boat, i decided to start the boat on the muffs in my driveway. After starting the boat I let it run for about five seconds and it wasn't pissing any water. Is this normal? I decided I better come ask you guys before letting it go any longer than that. I touched the top of the engine and it was pretty warm, I hope I didn't overheat it in that five seconds. So question is, should water start pissing immediately upon starting engine or after a little bit, if so, how long?
Thanks

Re: Tell Tale Question

It may take more than "5" second to start, depends on pressure and what not. What motor are you referring to, "tell tale" is a loosely used term on these forums.

Problem solved. I went out and started it again and it started pissing immediately, maybe wasn't hot enough. Just didn't want to ruin anything.

Whenever I start mine in the driveway - I let the water run for a few minutes before starting - it seems to start pizzing faster that way. I think the hoze pressure pushes water up through the motor.

Re: Tell Tale Question

Takes a while to fill all the waterways and find it's way to the tell tale.
Worry after around 25 seconds. My 140 takes about 10 seconds to fill up. It seems like a lifetime while you are waiting though !!
My 2 cents

Re: Tell Tale Question

It is very common and just for future reference.....V-4's really do not do great with muffs but they work.
