Hi-

Was giving my '83 35hp evinrude a go in the dustboin last night and noticed that as the engine became warm the volume from the tell-tale decreased - is this a function of a thermostat opening and lowering the pressure at the pee-hole or does it indicate a worn impellor, I plan to change it ASAP but wondered if there was anything else at work...

Thanks

David

Re: tell tale volume

You may have some debris floating around in there. The stat opening allows more water into the block.

Re: tell tale volume

the tell tale is before the t-stats. Weak tell tale stream = time to replace the water pump.

True. But if you are looking at servicing the system, as good practice, I would also be looking at the stat for any problems..
