The temp alarm on my 150 Evinrude started going off intermiitantly. One day it would do it the next it wouldn't. Last time I went out it was going off constantly. The temp gauge is staying between 160 and 180. I can put my hand on the heads and leave them there so I'm thinking it's a false alarm. BUT I don't know where to start trouble shooting for that. Anybody know how that signal gets sent up to the "horn"?

Re: temp alarm

Your engine has two heat sensors. One on each bank.<br />If your temp guage is accurate, any reading over 160 is cause for concern.

Re: temp alarm

Is it possible it is a fuel restriction alarm - as I read recently on this forum, some engines have a constant alarm for temp as well as fuel restriction. My alarm goes off if I forget to open the fuel line. Could be you have an intermmittent restriction. Not to say you shouldn't be concerned about the temp, just throwing in another possibility.
