Temp difference between risers ?

While I'm still battling the temp gauge/sending unit issues on my 95 7.4L 232 wellcraft,(no gauge temp reading) I'm always testing the cooling of the motor by doing the "5 second rule" test by resting my hand on the risers. After a lengthy easy run (2800 rpms), the port side riser is noticeably cooler than the starboard side riser. The port side passes easily, while the starboard heat gets uncomfortable at the 5 sec mark. Both cool down quickly after a few minutes of idle.

My question is: is this normal or do I have a riser beginning to malfunction?

Sounds like a plugged riser to me. Pull it off and have it tested. It should be like the other one: warm to the touch.

Water, like electricity, will take path of least resistance; one riser is almost always warmer than the other after a hard run, I would say your fine.
