Hi,

I have twin 318s and have a fly bridge. that's a total of 4 temp gauges.(two in cockpit, two on fly bridge). Every temp reading is different on all 4.

For example, Driving today at 20 mph for 30 mins, I had a reading of (175 flybridge, 185 cockpit..portside) (180 flybridge, 160 cockpit..starboard)

I want to replace ALL of them but I'm not sure if that will solve my problem.

Does anyone know what else I should replace or check?

Thanks,
Lou

First of all its rare for 2 engines to have identical temps...

Second..you will have a vary of temps as the resistance of the wire will cause misleading results. I assume you have different lengths of wire...also they may be corroded.

TMD

Ok, that I understand, but 1 gauge is telling me normal temps, and the other is tell me the engine is running hot. Which do I believe?

If the cockpit (which should have the shorter wire) is showing hot, does that mean that the short lead one is closer to the thruth? (due to "a vary of temps as the resistance of the wire will cause misleading results")

Thanks,
lou

Lou,

Go get a mechanical guage and put it on the engine and find out which is correct. Once you know that you'll have a better idea how to fix it.
