Re: Temp Sender Differences

A single station sending unit is as its name implies, intended for use with a single gauge. A dual station sender is required on a boat that has two helm stations, and therefore two gauges (one at each station). A single station sender cannot feed two separate gauges unless a switching scheme is used to switch between the two gauges which is a pain in the behind and not recommended.

The temperature range of that sensor is correct for an I/O. If you are intending to use this gauge on an outboard the needle will rarely leave the 120 mark since they generally run cooler than an I/O. The senders are not the same for outboards. If you indeed have an I/O, does your engine have a 1/2 NPT (National Pipe Thread) port on the manifold, block, or thermostat housing? If not, you need a sender with the same range but with the required thread size.

Thanks!
Yes , the motor is a 4.3L V6 Cobra system , and the port for the sender is indeed 1/2".
Thanks so much for the help, and have a good evening!:)
