Temp sender on engine need help.........

I have a 79 evenrude 85 hp, can anyone tell me if there is a sender on this engine the po was an wireing night mare, or can I run the wire from the gauge to one of the temp switches.... need help

You cannot wire a heat gauge into the overheat sensors. You need a sender such as this:

thanks i will see if there is one already on the engine,if so where roughly would it be located and am i running the wire from the gauge dirrect and will it be grounded with the bolt.

The sender would be attached to one of the cylinder heads.
