I will soon haver to do some propeller experimentation with my 1999 johnson 115. which is more valuable to make sure that I don't damage the engine; a water pressure gauge or a water temperature gauge?
thanks

Both, really. The water pressure gives you a good indication of the condition of your impller. The guage lets you know what the temp is during running, especially at low rpm. Also should have an overheat alarm system.

Water pressure, it will warn you of pressure loss BEFORE the temp goes up.

It will also tell you if your water pickup is out of the water.

I have both. The pressure gauge is a lot more fun to watch!

Given a choice, I would go with water pressure. In a pinch you can check temperature with your hand.
