i finnally got my new boat on the water, a 1976 24' fiberform cuddy, twin 165 mercs, pre alpha legs, whaterver that means. ran like a dream, turn key, pured regardless of rpm. the temp didn't go beyond 110 is this ok.1.5 hours run time. also to change throttle controls is there anything to watch out for. where can i find a manual for just this particualar setup, ive tried merc but the files are damaged evertime. to chang the oil do you siphon

Re: tempature

Can't offer much help on changing the throttles or where to find a manual, but if 110 is an accurate reading on your temp....it's much too cold. They need to run at least 160 or so to be efficient. You'll have power, fuel efficiency and condensation problems running at 110. Either the gauge is wrong or the thermostats have been removed...would be my guess.

i think 110 is to cool also. if there both that way. i'd think look and see if they have t-stats too. 140* for rwc, 160* for fwc. + 20*.......i don't know about the cables.

yep, i siphone the oil out of mine.

ya need service manual #2, C-90-71707, got mine off ebay.....
